Our story

Profilence was established in Oulu, Finland in 2014. The idea for starting the company was born when our founders were still working at Nokia Mobile Phones, specializing in quality analytics and SW engineering. At that time, Nokia devices were famous not only for being virtually indestructible, but also for their software that was intuitive and easy-to-use, and extremely reliable. The secret sauce was Nokia’s in-house software quality analysis system and methods, created by Profilence founders.

The company’s name reflects the founders’ vision of creating software that would help engineers and quality managers analyze and optimize the stability and performance of their products. They believed a novel methodology was needed to challenge the prevailing status quo in the quality analytics field: QA processes should be faster, more efficient, and more accurate. Based on their vision and past experiences in the field, the development of Profilence’s in-house technology was started, and the first patent was successfully filed to protect the core innovations.

Our first customers were in the smart device industry, where the software was used to optimize the reliability and performance of devices such as smartphones and wearables. The success of these early partnerships with Polar and other OEMs helped us to expand our product features and address medical device manufacturers. In this market segment, major medical device vendors use Profilence solutions in their daily engineering to ensure the safety and stability of their products. Customers appreciated our expertise, attention to detail, and  ability to deliver results quickly and efficiently.

It was just a matter of time before secure smartphone vendors got interested in our capabilities. Governments and security organizations are well known for their strict requirements on device reliability, and to meet their needs, OEMs need to go an extra mile to enable security features not commonly found on consumer devices. To ensure the stability and robustness of said extra features, Profilence’s QA services were a natural choice, and our co-operation with these OEMs keeps on expanding as the global demand for secure smartphones is growing year-on-year.

In 2022, we entered the automotive industry with an offering that allowed automotive engineers to analyze the long-term stability of infotainment and its interconnected systems. The QA suite was a hit with automakers looking for ways to accelerate issue detection and root cause analysis of their increasingly complex automotive software stacks. QA costs and development cycles were significantly reduced because long-term usage could now be modeled in laboratory conditions in a matter of days; waiting for field trial results to arrive was no longer necessary.

Today, Profilence is a global leader in QA methodologies, with resources and customers around the world. Our founders remain at the forefront of innovation, constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible in software quality engineering. And as the company continues to grow and evolve, one thing remains constant: our commitment to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
